My Journey from Passion to Profession in Photography
It started 15 years ago in a high school photography class. Back then, it was just a hobby—a way to see the world through a viewfinder. But as I spent the next decade and a half teaching myself the nuances of light, shadow, and human connection, that hobby transformed into a deep-seated mission.
With 15 years of hands-on experience and specialized training through Udemy, I’ve spent over a decade capturing portraits, events, and commercial branding across the Pnw and Portland metro areas. My self-taught journey has been fueled by one goal: professional-grade imagery that feels natural.
I’ve spent 15 years refining my craft, learning that the most powerful images aren't just seen—they are felt.
The Evolution: Introducing inPhocus Photos
After years of operating as In & Instant, I realized my work had grown into something more intentional. I wasn't just capturing snapshots; I was bringing stories into focus.
inPhocus Photos is the result of that evolution. It represents a new scope and a higher standard of service. Whether I’m working in my basement studio or out in the landscapes of Beaverton, I am dedicated to a documentary-style aesthetic that stays honest, natural, and cinematic.
Why I Do What I Do
I believe there are moments in our lives—the quiet glance of a couple, the confidence of a professional, or the raw energy of an event—that no individual would be able to cherish if someone hadn't been there to catch them.
I don’t just want to take your picture; I want to help you hold onto the feelings you never want to lose.
When I’m Not Behind the Lens
Fitness Focused
I’m a firm believer in a strong mind and body, getting a workout in at least 3 days a week to keep my energy high for long shoots.
Fresh & Simple
I love a healthy lifestyle—usually involving cooking up a fresh fish dinner or a morning smoothie with the cleanest ingredients.
Urban Scout
You’ll often find me walking the streets of Portland, scouting new hidden gems and urban backdrops for our next session.
My Philosophy: The InPhocus Promise
What it’s like to be behind my lens:
Guided, Not Stiff
You don't need to be a 'model.' I provide active, expert direction so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.
Honest Storytelling
I prioritize a documentary-style aesthetic—capturing real emotions and natural light over heavy, 'over-processed' editing.
A Low-Pressure Experience
From our first chat to the moment your gallery is delivered, my goal is to keep things simple, stress-free, and professional.
